Catalytic Gas Heaters
In the world of gas heating, catalytic gas heaters are one of the safest methods of heating. Because so many companies and people are in search for these types of heaters, several retrofits have been made to turn a regular gas heater into a catalytic gas heater.
How does a catalytic gas heater work? Catalytic gas heaters use natural gas or propane which enters the rear end of the gas tight heater pan. The gas is dispersed evenly and is transported to the hot catalyst pad. Once the catalyst pad has reached 300 F, there are several safety devices that are activated which allow the gas to enter the back of the heater. When the gas contacts the catalyst and reacts with the oxygen, the catalyst temperature rises to 775 F. Since the maximum temperature is 775 F and the ignition point for gas is 1300 F, the reaction is flameless. A typical catalytic reaction takes about five minutes, but the flameless technology offers one of the safest ways to use gas heater in several different applications.
Catalytic gas heaters are great energy savers as they require less energy to get them started. Of course the efficiency and effectiveness of a catalytic gas heater depends on its construction and maintenance, but these types of heaters put out a greater percentage of their heat radiation than that of electric heaters. Because Catalytic gas heaters do not require electricity to start, they can be used at any time without fear of incurring peak electrical charges which apply to most electric heating systems that are widely used by corporations and contractors. Because these types of heaters rely on gas, a natural gas or propane line is required in order to operate the catalytic gas heaters. Since gas is required, there have been several different types of varieties of these heaters made to help meet most heating needs. There are mobile heater, space heater, and affixed types of catalytic gas heaters to ensure that several different types of setups can be accommodated in order to meet different heating needs.
If you are in need of a safe heating solution, catalytic gas heaters are the way to go. Because these heaters only require a pilot light in order to get them started, no flame is created or is lit while the heaters produce constant and effective heat. This flameless technology has proven to be one of the safest methods in gas heating technology and is widely used by many different industries. Because some hazardous areas need to be heated, take out all of the heating risks by using a catalytic gas heater.
